I bought a pair of old Altec Lansing speakers with beautiful walnut enclosures and disintegrated woofers at a garage sale for $2. After my husband did a little sanding and rubbing oil they are beautiful. After installing a pair of these Goldwood woofers they sound even better than they look. For under 75 bucks we have a pair of speakers that sound as good as our $400 Boston Acoustics speakers and look even better. My husband expected to use these in the garage, but they are in the house.
We liked these woofers so much that he repaired the old blown out AR speakers that were stored in our garage with a pair of 12" Goldwood woofers for a little over $100. They hadn't been repaired because we thought we would have to pay well over $200 for decent woofers. The suspension seemed very stiff, but they sound great. BTW, you should know that these are made in China, in case that turns you off. For the price, you can't beat them, though I think the 10"ones sound a little better...
